Testimonials
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels has been an important part of one local man’s daily routine. Each delivery brings more than just food. It brings excitement. He often calls his family to describe the “great foods” he received. The meals include new flavors and healthier options that he wouldn’t typically prepare for himself. With consistent portions and balanced nutrition, he is building healthier habits. For his family, the program offers peace of mind. For him, it offers independence, nourishment and something to look forward to.
Lunch & Activity Centers
A recent moment at a Lunch & Activity Center perfectly captured the heart of the program. One of the regular participants had been absent for a week due to a hospital stay. When he walked back through the doors that day, the room immediately came alive. Hugs were shared. Smiles stretched wide. Voices called out, “We missed you!” “So glad you’re back!” and even, “Don’t scare us like that again!” The warmth in the room was unmistakable. It was a beautiful reminder that the Lunch & Activity Center is about far more than a meal. They have become more than tablemates, they have become family.
Senior Community Activities
When asked what they enjoy about our Senior Community Activities, our participants said they like the ability to stay fit with a fun instructor, the fabulous and energetic instructors who keep the classes fun and exciting, the camaraderie with longtime fellow classmates, and that they are improving strength & staying active.
Senior Medical Transportation
For one participant in the Senior Medical Transportation program, each ride to a medical appointment brings more than just peace of mind. It brings joy. She is quick to share her gratitude for the drivers who pick her up with kindness and a warm smile. To her, they are more than drivers; they are caring companions. She looks forward to their conversations, the stories exchanged and the laughter they share along the way. “I learn a lot from them,” she often says, appreciating the connection just as much as the service itself.
SafeSeniors
The SafeSeniors program brings together community partners to work on cases of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, using the skills and strengths that each brings to the table. In one case, an older adult had been checked on several times by APS based on reports of neglect, but was non-verbal and unable to freely communicate with investigators. She finally received justice when financial exploitation was also discovered. Law Enforcement partnered with APS and financial institutions to bring charges against the perpetrator. After moving to a nursing home and receiving rehab that restored her voice, she thanked the team and told them that they saved her life.
